    Afra was imported at 18 months of age from the well known Kursaal kennel owned by Richard Schmitgall. She was the result of a niece bred to her uncle. She was linebred on 1973 Bundessieger/1974 Klubsieger/Int. Ch. Karol v Wellesweiler, SchH 3, Gekort with Int. Ch. Benno v Amselhof, SchH 3, Gekort as her maternal grandsire. 

    We bred Afra to two different Int. Ch. Igor v Kastanienbaum, SchH 3, FH, Gekort sons. One was V1-rated Dack vd Magdeburger Borde, SchH 3, FH who was hard as nails. The other was Gold Producer Brando v Dattelner Hof, SchH 2, FH who was not known for his social skills either. As a result, our present dogs are descendents from three of Afra's get, Ch Darkstarr's Alter Ego, TT,  Darkstarr's Eta v Erste Klasse and Anja v Erste Klasse.

Ego finished his A.K.C. championship in style being shown only seven times from first point to last, with three majors. He defeated over 50 dogs in his open class in route to a 5 point major at an A.R.C. Regional Specialty in N.C. Ego won 22 Best of Breeds, 13 Group placements and 1 Best in Show with limited showing.  Ego was sired by Gold Producer Brando v Dattelner Hof, SchH 2, FH out of Afra. Ego's influence has been great in our breeding program. Through his son Ch Sentry's B-Rocco v Darkstarr, TT, CGC, RTD and many of his daughters, his presence is very apparent.

Krugerrand was from Darkstarr's Alter Ego's first litter. He was the result of Ego being bred to his neice Dusty. Dusty was also the litter sister to Darkstarr's Hanna pictured below. Due to personal reasons Krugerrand never completed his Championship but, we at Darkstarr have been lucky enough and with the help of friends, "of whom we owe much thanks." We have been able to acquire some of his frozen semen. We look forward to little Krugerrand puppies in the future.

Brenda was imported from Steinkopf kennel.  Brenda was sired by Europajugendsieger/ VDH Ch Rex v Steinkopf, SchH 3, FH, AD (K.S./B.S./E.S./ Int. Ch Dingo v Schwaiger Wappen, SchH 3/Gekort  X B.J.S. Centa v Steinkopf,  SchH 1). Brenda's dam was Xenia v Markgraflerland, SchH 1 (E.S./B.S. Condor Zur Klamm, SchH 3, Gekort  X  Kati v Tengen, SchH 1).

Hanna was out of Anja v Erste Klasse (V-rated Dack vd Magdeburger Borde X Afra). Hanna finished her Am. Championship with three 5 point majors. Two of the majors were at  A.R.C. Regional Specialties and the one remaining major on the tough Florida January circuit under Muriel Freeman. All of Hanna's wins were under Breeder judges. Hanna was shown in the A.K.C. ring only 4 times to finish her championship. Hanna finished her  Canadian championship in three consecutive show, one was a Specialty, under  a breeder judge.

Rocco was V1-rated. He was owner handled to his championship. One of his wins included an A.R.C. Regional Specialty. But by far, Rocco's biggest impact was in our hearts and in the whelping box. Rocco produced only five litters in his life. Through some ambitious breedings, he was bred to his aunt, Ego's litter sister Darkstarr's Eta v Erste Klasse which produced our best producing bitch, Rocksand, and he was also bred to two of his half sisters, Ego  daughters . From these above mentioned litters, the core of our present day breeding program revolves. One of his only two outcrosses produced a singleton puppy Darkstarr's Dizzy Izzy. She is the last Rocco daughter still of producing age. Rocco was the Rottweiler that we at Darkstarr will strive to produce. His intelligence, confidence, strength and dignity which exemplifies the highest standard in Rottweiler temperment has made him number one in our hearts.

After seeing Silver Producer Ch Gudrun von Anderson as a young adult, I started inquiring as to where her littermates had gone. I spoke to the Andersons, her breeders, and they explained that they had lost contact with people who acquired Hok, the pick male puppy in the litter, I didn't know it at the time but , I also found out that I wasn't the only one who had tried to locate him several people had tried but gave up. I spent many hours on the phone to three different states following leads that eventually led me to Hok. When I finally got him, he was everything I expected and more. Two weeks after I got him he went Best in Show at an AKC sanctioned match in Lumberton NC.

Hok was out of Silver Producer Ch Panamints Seneca Chief x Ch Susan von Anderson. His grand fathers were Ch Falk von Kursaal SchH1 and Gold Producer Ch Igor von Schauer. Hok was always a gentleman and had the most beautiful dark almond shaped eyes around. He had the perfectly proportioned rich mahogany markings which seems to be lacking today.

Gambit was the litter sister to Bronze Producer Ch Altar's Gandolf vom Axel, Bronze Producer Ch Altar's Gunner of Woodland, Ch Altars Gaither vom Axel, and Ch Altar's Gatsby v Radio Ranch. Gambit was sired by Gold Producer CH Radio Ranch's Axel v Notara out of Silver Producer Ch Gudrun v Anderson. She is pictured at 9 years of age.

ALTAR'S GAMBIT V BRUDERSHAFT

Delta was owned and trained by Susan Barkus. Susan and Delta in agility finished  #1 in Open Jumpers and Weavers, and #1 in Excellent Jumpers and Weavers for 1998.  Susan and Delta went on to prove what a great team they are by finishing 1999  #1 in Novice and #2 in Open Obedience and as if that wasn't enough, they won two Dog World Awards of Distinction, five High in Trials ranking them #2 Rottweiler for High in Trial. Susan and Delta achieved this in only six months of limited showing in obedience. They also were ranked #8 in Agility, Jumpers and Weavers, showing only a few months in 1999. Delta finished 2000 in the top 5 only competeing a few months in the beginning of 2000. ( These rankings are in the Rottweiler standings only.) Delta is the daughter of Delyla, a Rocco daughter with Ego being her grandfather on both sides. She is also the half sister to Darkstarr's Black Hole (Kohl)

When I first saw Cody as a puppy, I could see his pedigree reflected in his phenotype and I knew he would become part of Darkstarr one day. Cody's sire was Max a son of Ch Krugerrand's Cal v Crosscreek, CD. Calvin was in turn sired by (Bronze Producer Ch Altar's Gandolf v Axel) and in my opinion, Gandolf's best son. Max's dam was Darkstarr's Front Paige (Ego X Darkstarr's Dusty, litter sister to Ch Darkstarr's Hanna,). Cody's dam was Layla who was sired by E.J.S./VDH Ch Rex v Steinkopf, SchH 3, AD, FH out of Orissa v Siedlerpfad (Dago v Bakkes, SchH 3 Gekort X E.J.S. Aggi v Siedlerpfad, SchH 1, FH). Even though Cody was only with us for 2 1/2 short years, he left behind the best part of himself in his get.

Rocksand came back to us at the age of 5 years old. She is a Rocco daughter out of Ego's litter sister Eta. Rocksand has producing some truly wonderful kids for us. Through her Darkstarr has excelled. At present Rocksand kids and Grandkids are making Darkstarr proud.

Hope and Cody were litter mates. We were able to acquire Hope after she became a problem. It seems that she developed this habit of climbing onto  her neighbors roof and from high upon her perch dared them to enter their own home. This habit of hers made the 6 o'clock news and out of concern of being sued, Hope was sold to us. She doesn't climb onto the roof any longer but she still guards her claimed turf with intensity. Hope is the Dam of AH-OH, Siegerin Darkstarr's Colour Me Bad

Hope's paternal Grand Dam is a full sister to Darkstarr Krugerrand.
